Arts for Social Change: Longmont Museum Camp

Arts for Social Change: Longmont Museum Summer Camps

Are you passionate about equity, justice, breaking down barriers, and making positive change in the world? Explore how artists and young people can create social change using music, dance, creative writing and visual art as you collaborate on a project of your choosing.  Join Mimi and guests for a week of creativity and self-actualization.

The camp will include guest teachers sharing their knowledge and experience as artists/activists. Scheduled guests include an Indigenous muralist, an environmental sculpture artist that uses upcycled materials, and dancer/choreographer with Global Water Dances.

Campers will create original art works through a medium of their choice.
Projects could include:

  • Creating a community mural celebrating cultural diversity

  • Composing an original song or poem about disability rights

  • Creating a kindness quilt spreading messages of inclusion and equity

  • Making art from upcycled materials to highlight an environmental issue

  • Writing and drawing a zine or a comic highlighting a social injustice
